SOME OF BRIAN'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS WHILE HE WAS ON THE CITY COUNCIL

Payson General Plan

Navigating through Payson’s development demands a strategic approach to upgrading its aging infrastructure while also preparing for future growth. Recognizing this, a renewed general plan, completed two years ago, lays a smart growth blueprint for the next decade. Brian Hulet underscores the need to diligently assess and enhance our current infrastructure—be it roads, sewer, or water systems—not merely to meet present needs but to proactively accommodate anticipated growth and development. With a dedicated plan to refresh existing infrastructure, Brian, while on the council, steered Payson towards a future where the city isn’t just growing but evolving smartly and sustainably.

Safety

During Brian's tenure, five new police officers were added and officer pay was raised so that as soon as we train new policemen they do not seek employment elsewhere.

Home to Adventure

Initiated the rebranding of Payson to "Home to Adventure" and started the first "Payson Adventure Day" this year.

PARC Money

Brian initiated getting the PARC initiative on the ballot and and, as a private citizen, promoted its passing.  With the $1.87 million that this has generated thus far,  we have been able to make many improvements and additions to Payson from pickleball courts, finishing the Dry Creek trail, shade structures for Memorial Park, improvements at our ball fields, paintings of murals, etc.  It has also benefited many of our non-profit organizations like the Payson Civic Chorale, Payson City Band, Payson Community Theatre, People Preserving Peteetneet, Payson Scottish Festival and Huish Performing Arts and Cultural Education Center.

New Interchange and Historic Downtown Infrastructure

In collaboration with the mayor and Dave Tuckett, Brian Hulet has helped secure key funding for Payson's infrastructure. Their efforts with two lobbyists led to a significant $100 million from the state for a new Interchange on North Main Street. This will ease traffic and support UVU and Frontrunner's entry into Payson. Additionally, $5 million has been allocated to update the infrastructure of Historic Downtown Main Street.

Parris RV

Brian Hulet's collaboration with Mayor Wright in bringing Parris RV to Payson not only enhanced the city's economic landscape, but also significantly increased the city's revenue. This proactive move ultimately benefits the residents as a bolstered sales tax revenue from the sale of RV's can help alleviate some of resident tax burdens, ensuring a more balanced and sustainable financial structure for the community.

Bond Refinance

Brian's astute financial acumen has delivered tangible benefits for Payson's residents. Through his suggestion that the city look at refinancing some bonds, the city will save an impressive $817,161. This kind of forward-thinking and responsible financial management underscores Brian's commitment to ensuring Payson's fiscal health, ultimately benefiting its citizens.
